Chelmsford

Chelmsford was originally an agricultural and market town, in 1899 it also became known as the birth place of the radio. At one time the fastest growing town in Europe and in 2012 it was granted city status. Our brief for the Christmas display was to supply a variety of modern and traditional pieces, recognising the wide range of architecture and to celebrate the vibrant range of activities throughout the city.
The centre piece would have to be the large walk through DMX controllable bauble, located in the centre of the High Centre and facilitating a nonstop stream of “selfies” and even a performance by two excellent ballerinas in tutus, dancing inside the bauble set to a snowfall effect. Other “selfie” areas included reindeer and artificial trees as well as two real 30ft trees glowing with many thousands of LEDS in a mix of sizes.
Above the High Street were three giant canopies of controllable mini LEDs. Some of the older areas were adorned with multi coloured lines of overhead icicles complimented with column displays. Other streets and buildings were lit with simple white icicles and cross street displays. Growing trees had mini LEDs, our own brand of Maxi LED Globes and large 3D spheres.
A brand-new shopping area, including a flagship John Lewis store, was decorated with a multitude of silver & gold mini LEDs in various forms including three magical fairy pieces. Our client is and has been delighted with the response from the public and the press, which strengthens our relationship and absolutely makes the job worthwhile for all at LITE.
