Below and close to the historic Brighton Pier is a Victorian sub-tertainium aquarium operated by Merlin Entertainments. MICO lighting invited LITE to meet the brief of designing and installing a new Dynamic colour change lighting solution in the main gallery.
Several factors had to be considered and overcome to deliver this demanding project.
The wiring had to be minimal to meet historic building consent, the lighting had to be controlled wireless from DMX transmitters and receivers located at either end of the 100m long gallery.
The lighting products needed to be compact and not produce any glare to distract from the displays. The fixtures could only be located upon the original iron columns therefore restricting the fixing method.
After on site trials in hand with the client the Philips colorblast wide beam floodlight met all of the criteria and produces a flexible dynamic colour scheme for the visitor.
The revealed original brick work is fully enhanced through the strong colour saturation produced by the colourblasts pleasing the conservationists and school parties alike.
In total 32 colorblasts were supplied and installed by LITE
